Christmas is Coming

I don't know about you, but I can feel christmas in the air. As Phil Lester famously said, 'I can feel santa entering my blood.' And it is completely true. It's as if a switch has been flicked. All of a sudden you see fairy lights twinkling in lounge windows. Christmas shoppers scrambling around for the best deals. You can almost hear the fistfights. Carols. Even here in the southern hemisphere, where the weather is getting warmer, you can feel the christmas spirit like you in the northern hemisphere can feel the cold wind on your faces. (Sucks to be you)

I love christmas. It is by far my most favourite time of year. If I had to skip christmas or my birthday, I would skip my birthday in a heartbeat. But christmas is not without it's flaws. One of the things I find hardest is choosing gifts for people. So because I am so obviously good at it, why not show you how I do it with another Lily's totally reliable guide!

Lily's guide to choosing a gift your familymember/friend/personyougotforsecretsantathatyoudon'treallylike will love.

1. Find out what they like! Wether it's asking one of their friends or asking them yourself, this is one of the best ways to get ideas for a present. If your gift is for a secret santa you can even start a conversation about what you want from your secret santa and direct the conversation to what they might want. (Works every time!)

2. When purchasing for a brother or male friend, keep in mind that a gift you put a lot of thought into might be received like it doesn't mean anything. Boys don't often pay attention to such things.
Sometimes it is best to go with food. I bought my brother a large bucket of maltesers and he was on very good terms with me for at least 3 days.

3. When in doubt, go with food. Need I say more?

4. Don't buy your teacher 'World's best teacher' gifts. My aunt is a teacher and she hates it. She doesn't like being reminded of school when she is enjoying christmas at home. And to be honest, neither do most students.

5. Sometimes it's all in the wrapping. A bow can make a big difference. Trust me.

That is all I have to say. I am bad at endings. I am a robot. A christmas robot.

Sayonara, Lily

P.S. I am aware of the fact this is a bit late for a christmas post. From the bottom of my procrastinating heart, I'm sorry.

Procrastination

Hello people!

Lily returns after a long and hard battle to the fires of Mt Doom, earning a break from this blog. Well, to be honest, I haven't been on a quest. Or been admitted to hospital with a terminal illness. Nothing interesting apart from talking to my crush (Don't know how I survived that!) has happened to me.

You see, I've been procrastinating. Avoiding things I need/want to do is one of my specialties. I mean, for me it is as simple as turning on my laptop and BOOM! An hour is gone. Easy as that. I have been plagued by procrastination since forever. And so I thought, why not share it with you?
So, here is

How to Procrastinate like a Pro: Another totally reliable guide by Lily

Now, there are many ways to procrastinate, and this guide will cover the major spheres of procrastination.

1. Internet/Websites

This is the most major form of modern procrastination. Avoiding real life and going on the internet. This technique is very easy and you only require a device and an internet connection. Here is a list of websites to waste your life on.
-All social media
-Youtube
-This Site  Who knew killer whales could be so satisfying? (only works on computers)
-http://www.findtheinvisiblecow.com/ Does this need explaining? Disclaimer: Play this game with headphones otherwise you could be in for a nasty surprise.
-http://thisissand.com/  Play around and make piles of coloured sand everywhere. (More fun than it sounds)
-Starfield Zoom through the stars at the speed of light away from your responsibilities.
And finally....
-http://eelslap.com/ Slap a man in the face with an eel in slow motion. Or high speed. Or backwards!

2. Mental

This the original form of Procrastination. When you have no way or reason to procrastinate, you do it yourself! A typical example is as follows.

Lily: I am going to be super productive today and get all of my work done.

Lily's Brain: Hey, you see that dot on the wall? It's pretty interesting eh? How about we wander aimlessly around the house? Or enter a room and forget why we went in? Or look inside the fridge? Or lie face down on the floor! It'll be super fun!!!!!!!!

Lily: *Does all the things*

Lily: What is life

3. Visible fun things/Entertainment

This procrastination takes a lot of will power not to feel guilty about because you are visibly doing something that you should do after the work is done. Parents are especially disapproving of this. Luckily I am practically the Green Lantern in terms of willpower so it doesn't bother me.

-T.V and Movies (Some of my favourites are Doctor Who, Harry Potter and Lord of the rings, all of which provide chances for very long marathons!)
-Reading The old classic that gets me every time.
-Going Out with friends/Girlfriend/Boyfriend I am not a victim of this but my brother certainly is. (I swear he can't survive a minute without his girlfriend.)

Well, I hope this has been informative. I now expect you to do nothing productive for at least a half hour. Put all you have learned into practice. Thanks for reading this! I'd love to hear from you down in the comments.

Arrivederci, Lily

End-Of-Term-Itis

When I logged into my blog today, I saw 10 people had viewed it! You may all be creepy stalkers or admin, but I consider it an achievement none the less. Now, to business. I felt like I had to share with the world one of my greatest struggles. I admit it is very much a first world problem. And that probably no-one will find this interesting. But here we go!

When reaching the end of term or the school year, do you suffer from chronic tiredness? Or feel like time is going twice as slow? Does everything seem boring? And of course, do feel like you are coming down with something and need a day off school? It's probably End-Of-Term-Itis. It's a valid condition. I promise.

Some are lucky and get it only at the end of the year. Others don't even catch it at all. But for those of us who are not blessed by the gods of the education system, we get it four times a year. It's spread by the complaints of classmates and the excessive homework setting of teachers. The illness lasts for about three weeks preceding the end of term. And the cure? Nothing other than the arrival of the holidays. So the best you can do is moan about it to anyone who will listen and pass it on to them. It's a vicious cycle.

I honestly feel like term will never end. I don't know about you, but my teachers keep the students working right up to the end of term. Even after exams. Summer really can't come soon enough. If you can relate in any way let me know in the comments! I would love to hear from you guys.

The start of an era

Hello currently non-existent readers! I guess I am writing this blog to all teens out there like me, who are incredibly awkward and have no idea what they are doing. I will write about my experiences and embarrassing moments. I will even write how-to's and tips on life, even if I am the least qualified person to do so. But this blog will mostly be a place where I can speak my mind and talk about anything. So be prepared for rants on my annoying brother. Be prepared for me to gush over Youtubers, books, movies and music. But mostly be prepared for a cringe-worthy onslaught of embarrassing moments that I hope readers will be able to relate to. This blog will be anonymous to conserve that final tiny piece of dignity I may or may not still have. Any people I mention will have different names as well but the good thing is that I will be able to name these people according to my terms. So if I start writing about Gertrude then you know she has done something to get on my bad side. (No offence meant to any Gertrudes out there; I am sure you are all lovely people.) Anyway, I think I have been rambling long enough.

Au Revoir, Lily.
